Not a mosasaurus

How do you want to know that its not a mosasaur tooth without havent seen any pictures of it

After I'll do some preperation work on it, we can see further.

@JorisVV No, I didnt mean that thing either, on the back side, that is not shown in the picture, I discovered a "D" shaped line that might the base of a mosasaur tooth.

Or something less exciting, but I have no idea on the fauna found there.

Next up, three whale teeth that apparently belong to the same jaw. Does somebody know the order of the teeth how they were positioned in the jaw ?

Species : Pappocetus lugardi

Age : 40 million years

Formation : Dakhla, Boudjour basin, Morocco

Sice : biggest one : 9,2 cm

IMG_1239.jpeg

My opinion is that left one is Protocetid tooth and two right ones Basilosaurids. Back of the jaw teeth.

There's no such thing as too many teeth.

What is that ? Apparently not Basilosaurus ?

Early whale lineage that include Pappocetus for example.

Thanks !

I was also thinking this one might be Pappocetus lugardi, but I wasnt sure.

Moroccon whales are bit complicated since there is atleast two formations and multiple species.

Other formation is younger, so I think no Protocetids there.

There's no such thing as too many teeth.

Nice tooth! By the way, I think the title is very slightly misleading. It is a quickly growing collection!  :TongueOut:

Newest addition : my rarest theropod tooth so far. I only know one other person on the entire Forum, who has a tooth like that.

Its crazy that I somehow got my hands on a tooth like that, before a tyrannosaur tooth :default_faint:

And I also think, that I'm the first 14 year old, who holds such a rare tooth in his hands.

Drum roll please :

Siamraptor suwati cf. :yay-smiley-1:

Species : Siamraptor suwati cf.

Age : 120-113 million years

Formation : Grè supérieurs formation, Savannakhet basin, Laos

Sice : 6,2 cm

I just made more and better pictures of the tooth, using the flashlight really helped a lot !
Lovely, so the preservation isnt as bad as I thought, you still can see what it once was. It looks cool, I love all the square cracks

And also, this is my 1000 post on this Forum :yay-smiley-1:

Thank you for sharing these fantastic photos.  You are enhancing the knowledge of all who see them.  We all have to have goals. Remember , it is not the destination,  but it is the journey. The goal is to enjoy it as much as possible.  Jack
