Shellseeker
I am home today. Sorting fossils from hunting trips back 10 years and Finding fossils that are new again to me. One like this Nannippus lower tooth. During the Pliocene, Nannippus was one of the last Tridactyls in Florida. Another find I did not immediately recognize, but I knew it had to be an periotic/petrosal of a Dugong, a Baleen whale, or a Mammoth/Mastodon. So searched TFF until I found it. Those small circles in the last photo allowed Bobby to identify a similar find back in 2021 by @PODIGGER as coming from the Petrosal of a Baleen whale. Just sharing those 2 .. Here is the request for fossil Identification. My Barb finds in the Peace river tend to be very narrow, more like 4 than 14 mm wide. I have the feeling that @Al Dente or @MarcoSr my know, Thanks Jack 9 The White Queen ".... in her youth she could believe "six impossible things before breakfast"

It looks like multiple serrated edges on a single caudal spine. 3
Yoda
Stingray barb is fantastic. Maybe it's not a shed barb. But a few developing ones inside the base of the tail the fish itself Just speculation. 2 MotM August 2023 - Eclectic Collector

I don't think it is a stingray barb. I'm pretty sure it is something like a fin spine or part of an armor scute etc. I spent a lot of time on-line looking, but I can't find a match. I search for Sting Ray barbs and only found Eagle Ray (Aetobatus) barbs similar but not the same. Thought it might be pathological as I was posting. 8 hours ago, Yoda said: Stingray barb is fantastic. Maybe it's not a shed barb. I am always looking for a reason to keep searching... 2 hours ago, MarcoSr said: Jack I know I've seen this pattern before. I don't think it is a stingray barb.
