Jaybot
Found this recently in glacial till material in E Kansas. What I find unusual is the rather thick neural process- I’ve personally never seen anything like it. Any ideas, suggestions, or corrections are greatly appreciated; I’m trying to learn more about iding vertebrae. Measurements in cm/mm As always thank you everyone! 2 -Jay “The earth doesn't need new continents, but new men.” ― Jules Verne, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea
Jaybot
I just had a thought this morning; could the thick neural process be due to some sort of pathological reason? I don’t know anything about bone diseases, so this could be improbable. -Jay “The earth doesn't need new continents, but new men.” ― Jules Verne, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea
ParkerPaleo
Maybe something like an opossum that has a strong tail/muscle attachments? Or a burrower? Edited May 22 by ParkerPaleo

You may be on the right track, however what is throwing me off is the transverse foramen (two small holes). These would suggest neck (cervical) vertebrae from what I've gathered. Thank you ParkerPaleo for the message! -Jay “The earth doesn't need new continents, but new men.” ― Jules Verne, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea

Here is some photos I found on the web: I feel confident enough with this ID to label it as such. Thank you for leading me in the right direction @ParkerPaleo! 1 1 1 -Jay “The earth doesn't need new continents, but new men.” ― Jules Verne, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea
ParkerPaleo
Your welcome! Glad we figured it out. I had been searching for neck pictures for a bit yesterday too but google didn't seem to want to give me a good view. Love seeing stuff like this, helps me learn too! ~Tim
