New Members Jellyman Posted May 23 New Members Share Posted May 23 Could anyone help me identify this fossil? Found on the beach near Whitby uk. Weighs a little over 2kg. Photographed wet and dry with a bell pepper for scale. (apologies at the lack of accurate measurements, the kiddos have stolen my ruler, tape measure and for some reason the spirit level... I can only hope they're putting up a shelf or something.) This is my first time on this forum so apologies for any faux pas or janky formatting.
Thomas.Dodson
Looks like a partial ammonite. I can't help with the species but there are members familiar with the area who may know it (if enough remains for identification).
Brevicollis
Partial ammonite. Maybe @Ludwigia is still able to identify it. Although I highly doubt it, as it is so badly preserved. My account and something about me : My still growing collection : My paleoart : I'm just a young guy who really loves fossils

You certainly are right on that account. Sorry. Greetings from the Lake of Constance. Roger http://www.steinkern.de/
TqB
Based on the preservation, it looks like a crushed piece of one of the large arietid ammonites from the Redcar area - so Coroniceras or similar. 1 Tarquin
rocket
yep, I would think so, something like a Coroniceras-type Ribs and (visible, but covered with matrix yet) keel are indicators for this (I marked the keel with two blue lines) Edited May 23 by rocket
