More petrified wood

Does petrified wood qualify as a fossil?  I won't post anymore if not.  Found these on this mornings walk.

Petrified wood is considered a fossil.

Does a bear . . . ? Yes, these are fine examples of fossilized wood. I can't tell you much more about them though.

Ya, it is questionable, I guess. But it doesn't strike me as looking metamorphic. What would you make it to be?

Slate-phyllite-schist, perhaps quartz-rich.

Upon further review, the second piece is not petrified wood.

Totally agree with this on the last piece show.

The first piece needs some end shots too be sure what it is.

Perhaps a close look here. It looks like wood to me. Just a little weathered around the edges.

For my part, both pieces appear to be petrified wood.
