New Members iloverocks Posted May 30 New Members Share Posted May 30 I found these in the same place on a rocky creek bed along with ammonite and several geodes. Just curious to see if anyone could provide any information on a possible id.. Mid USA
patelinho7
FYI: “mid USA” is not precise enough for a helpful ID. Especially for dinos. That being said, these do not look like bone. They seem to be silicified, and some of the pieces look like they could be petrified wood or perhaps coral. The last image appears to be a gastropod. I’d love to see the ammonites and geodes you say you found! Edited May 30 by patelinho7

The piece in picture 4 looks like geodized coral to me. Can you post close ups of all sides of this piece?
New Members iloverocks Posted May 31 Author New Members Share Posted May 31 I'm in Southern Kentucky here are some pictures of the rock in pic 4. It is becoming one of my favorites.
New Members iloverocks Posted May 31 Author New Members Share Posted May 31 Also I thought that the snail shell was ammonite from my Google search. My interest in fossils Is very fresh.
New Members iloverocks Posted May 31 Author New Members Share Posted May 31 Here are some of the geodes I just went outside and took a quick picture. They are on the rocks we have around our house just in case you were thinking those don't look like a creek in KY.
ynot
Thank you for the additional pictures. Unfortunately the pictures are poorly focused and hard to make any detail. With that said, this piece does not appear to be a fossil (better focused picture may change this opinion) , although it may have an organic origin. From the lack of wear it has not traveled very far in a stream (less than 100 yards). Check the rocks around the creek for the outcropping. County, city are usually good enough. Southern Kentucky is a very large area with a very wide range of ages on the fossils found.
