Hi

Just got back from the peace river near arcadia. Looking for some help in identifying the fang, claw, and larger teeth. Looks like a beaver tooth and either a mammoth or mastodon? Thanks for any help!

Nice haul from the Peace!

If you want unidentified items identified you are going to have to help us. It is much more difficult to identify a fossil solely from images (always easier in hand). If you can take a close-up photo (in focus) of a particular item then we can address that. If you post more than one at a time, it is helpful to write a number on a slip of paper and include that in the photo. That way we can say #5 is a .... and such.

From the overall group shot I do recognize a chunk of mammoth molar and a few turtle parts including the "peace sign" (an entoplastron). There is also a (lower) horse tooth and next to it what might be a small cetacean (dolphin) tooth. Would need better photos to be conclusive.

Welcome to the forum!

Cheers.

The claw looks like a bird claw. Size would help narrow down the options.

Definitely a lower horse tooth (the upper teeth of horses are more square in the occlusal [chewing surface] view).

Definitely a bird talon. We have some members here who may be able to provide more information given the size.

Curious item that third one. From further away it looked to possibly be a dolphin tooth but at 2" that seems a bit large. If it is a cetacean tooth, seems the enameled crown is broken off which will hinder identification. @Shellseeker may have some input on this one.

Cheers.

Search this forum.  Raptor talons are completely based on size . This thread may help.

Thank you all! Have a few more random finds from past trips I'll post on another thread, unless it makes more sense to keep them here since they were all collected from the same area. Thanks again!
