!! Calling all Florida river bone identification geniuses !! 🕵️♂️👨‍💻

Pls help @jcor246 and me nail down this tricky batch of knobby bone frags in need of identification. All specimens collected on the Peace River, between Wauchula and Arcadia, FL.

I’m really curious about these guys but understand they’re incomplete etc etc so any feedback is really appreciated- tentative and rudimentary IDs are good too! Happy to take follow up images requested for a specific number!

Thanks TFF Team!!

Jena

Unfortunately, I think many of these are going to be unidentifiable.

Chunks of random bone are very hard to ID accurately.

Looks like you guys were very busy!  Unfortunately, I don't see enough signs of joint articulation to give much hope of ID on these. A couple might vaguely resemble certain bones, but it's hard to be confident.

Also, for future reference, I would group all views of the same item together.  It makes it much more difficult to ID, at least for me, when I have to scroll down to find each different view for each fragment and then back up.

On vacation. It takes time to identify bones:

#3 likely a tortoise ungual

#5 is a toe bone

#8 and #10 are Carpals or tarsals .. Possibly Horse or Llama

Sorry, not much I can add right now

@Fossildude19 and @Brandy Coleappreciate you letting me down easy. Haha.

This was the response I’d expected so my hopes aren’t high but a gal can dream! The usual culprits regularly astound me with masterful long shot identifications so fingers crossed they’ll weigh in, but It’s also worth having additional eyes on these even if its just experts like yourselves confirming they’re too rough for ID, so thank you!

Best,

Constantly learning from you @Brandy Cole! You’re absolutely correct- mental note made for next time. Thanks again.
