Howdy! I've seen this ichthyosaur paddle for sale for a while. I don't know enough to say that it's real. If it is, I'd love to have it. Geological information: Triassic Guanting Formation, Ghizhou, China. Any help is appreciated.

Guanling Formation, Guizhou Province.

Seems fine, but better ask the seller to provide a picture under UV light.

Be not ashamed of mistakes and thus make them crimes (Confucius, 551 BC - 479 BC).

I just asked the seller for a picture under UV. Thanks for your response.

It looks ok to me.  You may compare with the one below, it's unprepped.

The seller sent me a few pics under UV...I never know what I'm looking for under UV.

I haven't had much luck with UV on Mesozoic bones.  I even ordered the one recommended on TFF (C8+). I can't imagine all of my bones are fakes.

Hi All, I've also spotted this paddle listed online and was interested to buy.

However, I noticed that the specimen shows 6 fingers, which is somehow weird.

All the samples of mixosaurus panxianensis (which is supposed to be) I've seen have 5 fingers.

Any comment on that?

Thx.

I see only 5  fingers in this piece. Count on both sides of the fracture.

Thanks!

You mean bones are offset between the two sides of the fracture?
