saysac
Can someone help ID this Ohio Devonian fossil please? Lots of coral in the area. Found brachiopods, crinoid pieces, horn coral and cephalopod on my last visit. This is an odd one. Almost a bone like look to it, but obviously could be completely wrong on that. Some quartz crystals in the 2 tips. Sherry
Fossildude19
Welcome back, Saysac! Good to see you here again. This to me looks like the "beak" area of a brachiopod valve. 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 IPFOTM -- MAY - 2024 _________________________________________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." saysac
Thank you for the warm welcome back! I also looked at brachiopod, but could not find an example that showed the 2 “lines” with the chambers that made sense. The area has some really amazing fossils. 1 Sherry

saysac
Thank you so much, and looks like my mystery has been solved! I have missed interacting with fellow fossil hunters with being off of Facebook and the fossil groups there. 1 Sherry
FossilDAWG
It looks very much like a pentamerid brachiopod. However they are mainly Silurian. Are you certain your specimen is Devonian? Don
