New Members Lavasteentje Posted June 11 New Members Share Posted June 11 Hello all, on vacation to Denmark we met a man on the beach searching for fossils. He explained a bit what to look for and we started looking for fossils. After a few minutes i found a few what i thought were fossils and we went back to the man. He told me i found some belemnite fossils. So me and my wife continued searching and found more belemnite fossils and some other possible fossils. Unfortunately the man had left so we could not ask him about our other finds and that brings me to this forum. I want to know if what i found are real fossils and if so, from what plant or animal they are. I hope the pictures i took are clear enough for you to determine what they are. Thank you. rocket
Most of the stones you found are real fossils The belemnites are nice, parts of fossils squids Further you found some Oysters and one might be a sponge Age is upper cretaceous, maastrichtian, approx. 70 Million years old

rocket
not a fossil, flint peeble (perhaps with a part of a sponge at the right end, hard to decide)
rocket
special type of flintstone, "banded flint", not a fossil
rocket
special mineralisation type, no fossil (the structure), the stone itself should be a fossil oyster

New Members Lavasteentje Posted June 11 Author New Members Share Posted June 11 Thanks for your answers! I'm very happy with my little finds. So i have found little squid fossils and an oyster one! Might not be special to anyone else, but to me they sure are. I live in The Netherlands and not close to the sea but i googled and found a place called "Baloerveld", where i might be able to find more fossils. It's only a half hour drive to get there. If i can find the time i go this weekend and hunt for fossils. Thank you again. Christian
Mahnmut
Hi and welcome to the forum. Nice start! And while the beekite rings are not fossils in themselves, I think they are fascinating and would still like to find some after having collected fossils for many years.
