Some Ice Age Wood From Puget Sound

Neanderthal Shaman

Recommended Posts

Around 17,000 years ago, as the Puget lobe of the Cordilleran ice sheet retreated, the melted ice formed Glacial Lake Russel in the depression carved out by the ice, now the southern part of Puget Sound. This wood was in that lakebed before the ice sheet retreated past the Strait of Juan de Fuca, allowing oceanic saltwater to flood into the area.

From Eld Inlet, Puget Sound.
