New Members 98feetdeep Posted June 17 New Members Share Posted June 17 Found in Mesa County, Colorado. This area has ammonites in shale and various mineral deposits. I think it is a septarian nodule but not sure. Is there the possibility it has an ammonite inside? the ammonite was found in shale nearby for reference.
ynot
Yes to nodule, no to ammonite.
DPS Ammonite
See if it fluoresces in long or short wave UV light. Ynot is correct. My goal is to leave no stone or fossil unturned. rocket
Septarian-nodule, this is what we can see Some nodules contain fossils, so, no one knows whats inside..., perhaps you get one when you open it Edited June 18 by rocket
Mark Kmiecik
Nice example of septarian nodule. Mark. Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!
M Harvey
The last photo is an ammonite.
