New Members Pasthunter52 Posted June 27 New Members Share Posted June 27 (edited) Hello everyone! It's nice to e-meet you! I have a trilobite head with cracks in it. How might I best stabilize it? I appreciate any help - I am learning. Edited June 27 by Pasthunter52 Typo
Jaybot
Should probably be structurally OK if your careful with it, but you could stabilize it with some sort of consolidant. @Ptychodus04Has a lot of experience with different sort of consolidants; I mainly just use Paraloid B-72 -Jay “The earth doesn't need new continents, but new men.” ― Jules Verne, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea
Ptychodus04
It is likely ok without any consolidation. The cracks look to be filled with matrix or calcite. It’s hard to tell which from the photo. If you are concerned, you can brush on a coat of thin (2-5% dissolved in acetone) solution of Paraloid B72 or Butvar B76. 1 Regards, Kris Global Paleo Services, LLC https://globalpaleoservices.com http://instagram.com/globalpaleoservices http://instagram.com/kris.howe
