Danielb
The jaw looks like peccary likely Platygonus Sp. Edited June 28 by Danielb
C2fossils
I can definitely see the similarity to peccary but it also looks similar to boar, is there any way to tell for sure? peccary jaw picture I found for reference.
Jaybot
After seeing that reference photo, I am also leaning towards a worn peccary molar. Look at the wear of the teeth on this jaw: Source: https://www.researchgate.net/figure/Tayassuid-dentaries-and-lower-teeth-from-the-Pleistocene-of-Florida-A-right-dentary_fig1_257618845 1 -Jay “The earth doesn't need new continents, but new men.” ― Jules Verne, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea
C2fossils
Yup it looks nearly exact. And looking at boar teeth it is more complex chewing surface than peccary. Thank you!
C2fossils
As for the first photos is it possible to be mammoth or mastodon last toe bone? Here is a photo of a mastodon foot for reference. Edited June 28 by C2fossils
Jaybot
Seems too small to be mastodon/mammoth in my opinion. 1 -Jay “The earth doesn't need new continents, but new men.” ― Jules Verne, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea

C2fossils
Okay so I was on the completely wrong track on this one: On 6/28/2024 at 12:28 PM, C2fossils said: As for the first photos is it possible to be mammoth or mastodon last toe bone? Here is a photo of a mastodon foot for reference. It is not even a toe bone it is an accessory carpal to a bison. Here is a photo comparing it to Bos.
