Brevicollis
Hello, I have a question. Is Khinjaria acuta the rarest mosasaur to find in the Moroccan phosphate mines ? I only know that one partial skull has been found of this species so far, and I recently saw that one of the mosa experts had published two photos of a Khinjaria tooth. And now I saw an already sold tooth, that really looked like Khinjaria. Maybe I'll post about it later. North
I think that find might be too recent to make that call. There might be more finds in the future. For example at one point Carinodens belgicus teeth were rare, but are now more reasonable to find. I'm waiting when the first ones appear in the forum. There's no such thing as too many teeth. Mark Kmiecik
The rarest one is the one that exists there but hasn't been found yet. Edited June 29 by Mark Kmiecik typo 1 Mark. Agreed, Carinodens teeth appear with relatively high frequency these days. Xenodens, however is something I consistently keep an eye out for and never see available. Khinjaria seem to have more typical mosasaur teeth (at least compared to the aforementioned taxa), and may therefore be something that appears more commonly for sale. However, I am just speculating. If anyone has a Khinjaria tooth I'd be interested in seeing a pic.
Brevicollis
Does somebody here in this Forum even own a Xenodens calminechari tooth ? First two. https://www.thefossilforum.com/topic/142871-mosasaur-tooth-id-wanted/ I agree. Khinjaria seems an type of mosasaur that can be more common when right layers are revealed. I just wondered if someone here managed to obtain one by now, or if any other teeth of this species have been found and published by now. I've seen none new so far, only the specimen from Nick Longrich. Seems like its still a rare species. But Im not aware if anyone has one. It might take some time that those pop up, or those might stay rare. There's no such thing as too many teeth.
