I would like to know if there is a non expensive identification book about Floridan fossil shells. Something "not only for starters", you understand me! ;)B) .And where can I buy it. Thanks in advance.

Didn't the FPS take over the publication of the Brayfield's guide?

You might do a search for Florida Paleontological Society or for Lelia Brayfield.

Hi Moropus,

Petuch E.J. (1994) - Atlas of the Florida Fossil Shells (Pliocene-Pleistocene) is a book about

these shells.

but there also older ones:

See the attached list for more information.

Han

Hi Moropus,

these shells.

thanks Han for the digital bibliography

Just a friendly advice

Atlas of Florida fossil shells : (pliocene and pleistocene marine gastropods) is a great book, maybe the best about gastropods but:

It is just about gastropods and non bivalves

Sadly it is very hard to find because it is out of print (The Atlas of florida was printed in a very limited number of copies).

The pictures are not so good, so if you will be so lucky to find a buddy that let you photocopy the book (like i did), the final result will be very poor :(

Petuch named a lot of new species of gastropods (maybe too much!!!) B):P

Erosion... will be my epitaph!
