MOROPUS
I would like to know if there is a non expensive identification book about Floridan fossil shells. Something "not only for starters", you understand me! .And where can I buy it. Thanks in advance.

Harry Pristis
Didn't the FPS take over the publication of the Brayfield's guide? You might do a search for Florida Paleontological Society or for Lelia Brayfield. http://pristis.wix.com/the-demijohn-page What seest thou else In the dark backward and abysm of time? ---Shakespeare, The Tempest
Han
Hi Moropus, Petuch E.J. (1994) - Atlas of the Florida Fossil Shells (Pliocene-Pleistocene) is a book about these shells. but there also older ones: Dall, William H. (1903) - Geological results of the study of the Tertiary Fauna of Florida Transactions of the Wagner Free Press Institute of Science, Vol.3, Part 6, p.1540-1620, Philadelphia: Wagner Free Press Institute of Science Dall, William H. (1915) - A monograph of the molluscan fauna of the Orthaulax Pugnax Zone of the Oligocene of Tampa, Florida U.S. National Museum, Bulletin 90, p.1-165 + pls., Washington: Government Printing Office See the attached list for more information. regards, Han 4. Nandomas
Hi Moropus, Petuch E.J. (1994) - Atlas of the Florida Fossil Shells (Pliocene-Pleistocene) is a book about these shells. thanks Han for the digital bibliography Just a friendly advice Atlas of Florida fossil shells : (pliocene and pleistocene marine gastropods) is a great book, maybe the best about gastropods but: It is just about gastropods and non bivalves Sadly it is very hard to find because it is out of print (The Atlas of florida was printed in a very limited number of copies). The pictures are not so good, so if you will be so lucky to find a buddy that let you photocopy the book (like i did), the final result will be very poor Petuch named a lot of new species of gastropods (maybe too much!!!) Erosion... will be my epitaph! http://www.paleonature.org/ https://fossilnews.org/
