Sauropod Vertebra - ID

Hi guys, 

I'd love help IDing this vertebra and what formation it likely came from. I know that's difficult, but I figured this would be worth a shot. 

It was bought at a mineral and gem show on Long Island in New York about 20 years ago with no information about it except that it was labeled "sauropod vertebra". 

Dimensions: 

About 5" wide at widest, about 7" long at longest, and about 4" tall at the tallest. Measurements were taken while the specimen was laying on its side.

Welcome to the forum, what you have is definitely a vertebra of some type. It does look like some type of dinosaur vertebra but I’m still learning about dinosaur bones myself because I am relatively new to paleontology so I’m not an expert on dinosaurs. Hopefully somebody who knows more about dinosaur bones will help eventually.

You purchased a partial vertebra.  If I had to guess, from the size, color and condition,   I would say it's from a Jurassic sauropod found in Montana or Wyoming collected on the surface.

Yup... vertebra.  I do not see enough here to be able to say it is sauropod for sure.
