A.Stuntz
Anybody know what this is??? I found this fossil on a limestone (possibly glacial deposit) cliff in northern Michigan in the UP, it’s on Bois Blanc Island (right next to Mackinac island). I’ve been fossil hunting in this region for years and have never seen anything like it. Coral??? Anyone know??? (Btw it’s probably from the Devonian or Silurian). Thanks so much!!!! Mark Kmiecik
To me it looks like an impression of rope or other fibrous object in concrete. Mark. Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!

crinus
Definitely not an echinoid or concrete. I was hesitant on the rostroconch guess but after looking at some of mine, I conclude that is probably a good conclusion. Here is a pic of one of my specimens. Yours is probably just disarticulated. A.Stuntz
Do you know where I might find a picture of a distorted one?
Mark Kmiecik
I still think it's a woven rivercane basket impression in cement or concrete. Google it. Mark. Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!
