Nj River Find - ID help - Hadrosaur Skull?

My amature guess is Hadrosaurus foulkii egg just shy of hatching. But really no clue. 

 

There appears to be mummified/fossilized soft tissue too.  I stoped working on it to prevent any further loss of potential scientific data. 

 

My son and I almost tossed this thinking it was just another horn coral! (See last photo)

Also...do I need to coat this somehow to keep it together....only 2 days out of the river.

Whether you mean egg or skull, I'm seeing neither here and would agree with val.

I agree with the others. No shell texture, no egg shape, no bone trace, therefore no fossil, no egg. We are far from being able to give a name of genus or species since it is not.

 

It would be appreciated if you use an international measure, in cm or inches, because the size of your coin speaks only to Americans, and not to very many foreigners. Nothing will ever be worth a size clearly stated

I'll have to find a printable scale and take a few more pictures this evening. 

 

To clarify, I'm not suggesting that this is an egg, but more the embryonic skull from one, no egg remaining. 

 

I've had many iron concretion pass through my screens and this is not it. There are too many details that are not mineral. 

 

I know how it sounds, but this thing is different. I'll see what I can do to better capture some of the features that just don't match geological.

The chances of this being an "embryonic skull" are beyond astronomical.

 

It could possibly be something fossilized, but I would lean more towards a shell than bone.

I can see what vaguely looks like a hadrosaur skull.

But there is no real bilateral symmetry, no bone texture, and no skull morphology.

But it is only Pareidolia. Matrix makes up the bulk of what you are seeing as a skull.

The brown part is fossil something, perhaps, but the rest is matrix.

I agree with a bivalve steinkern. Definitely not a skull

Hi, I agree that this is possibly a bivalve steinkern or similar, from one  direction looking remarkably like a tiny adult hadrsosaur head. Not at all what an embryonic head would look like.

I completely agree with bivalve steinkern, probably the genus Cucullea.
