Shellseeker
My progress is 15-20 Ziploc bags of fossils in one larger cloth shopping bag. So far I have completed 1 shopping bag out of 20 in 3 days. This is a task that will take me a while to complete. Here are some of the best from today. As part of this effort, I will collect all the Dolphin teeth and jaw sections to see variations. Here is definitely one of my most interesting (and favorite) finds. A whale tooth, but not just any whale tooth. We just do not have many 40 x 7 mm WHALE teeth in Florida.. Florida does not have any research papers or any articulated specimen of a whale with teeth this size. The only similar whale teeth I have seen are from California. Aulophyseter moricci If any of our Maryland TFF members have examples of these teeth from St. Marys Formation , please post Photos. @Fin Lover I am curious on whether you have found any of these small Whale teeth in SC... A bone that looks like an Equus Carpal... but very small To get an education on what Equus Carpals look like, see this thread.. Even if you agree that this bone looks similar to Equus carpals, I still have a difficulty of finding a very small Tridactyl horse like Nannippus. I will NOT be sorting bones tomorrow. Going out in the morning , hunting the Peace River. I went down into my carport 30 minutes ago to put gear into my pickup truck , looked down on the ground and saw this next fossil. It is a long story on exactly how it got there... But for the time being, good for identification to species 2 The White Queen ".... in her youth she could believe "six impossible things before breakfast"
Fin Lover
This would be the closest thing I have, and they are smaller...about 30mm x 5mm. 1 Fin Lover

Jaybot
Thanks for sharing! I'm with JBkansas, I also think that is a Giant sloth tooth, but no idea on Florida's genus/species. That first dolphin tooth with a jaw section is pretty neat, are they associated? We have Eremotherium, Paramylodon (harlani and garbani ) and Megalonyx (Jefferson and Leptostomas). I think this is Harlan's ground sloth. The black on black (Peace River colors) makes it a little harder to recognize. These are not associated , but came from the same location. It is interesting that the tooth "fits" the alveoli. My best case for associated: On April 19th 2021, I found this chunk of dolphin jaw. Bobby identified as Delphinodon dividum. I had never heard of that dolphin species previously. In June 2021, I found this tooth "IN THE SAME HOLE". It "fit" the jaw. Never found another tooth or jaw like them. 1 1 The White Queen ".... in her youth she could believe "six impossible things before breakfast"

I get the feeling you would have told me if you had an ID... Did you ever pass it by Bobby... he used to be interested in whale teeth. Bobby has IDed most of my larger ankylorhiza teeth, but the small ones just get labeled "odontocete" (except for the double-rooted "waipatiid" teeth). Sorry I couldn't help with an ID. Understood , We would need a complete jaw/skull to get someone's name attached to these small whale teeth. I am just pleased to know that you (and likely others) are also finding some in South Carolina.
