New Members Shoutingwind Posted July 15 New Members Share Posted July 15 Hi All, I found this in Marlborough, New Zealand from an area that is part of the Awatere Group (Miocene/ Pliocene). I found a nice shell (also pictured because it's cool), and the... Something? I am pretty sure it's a fossil but no idea what it is. Or it could be an inclusion I guess. Please help! It's 3.5cm long, and 3cm wide.
R0b
That shell looks like a tooth to me. With more pictures: top bottom straight side view someone might be able to identify it. Edited July 15 by R0b Completeness
Fossildude19
First 4 images look like a cross section through a shell, maybe a gastropod. The other item does indeed look like a tooth. Pictures from all sides would help us figure it out. New Members Shoutingwind Posted July 16 Author New Members Share Posted July 16 Alas, I am pretty sure the long one is a shell rather than a tooth. VID20240716072024.mp4

Could very well be some type of Pinna sp. shell. Thanks for the additional pics/video.
