How to protect from hand oil stains?

Howdy all,

I've been curious about thia for a while, but many of my specimens have been darkening as a result of skin oils getting in to the specimen from handling. Is there any way to protect them from this, like something I could apply to them that would protect them while also not discoloring or altering them?

the first option would be to wear gloves while handling.  If you dont want to do that, then you could put a coating of either Butvar B-76 or Paraloid B-72 on it, but that could alter the color too.

What hadrosauridae said.  Not much to prevent skin oils other than not touching them as far as I know.

And yes, Paraloid B-72 changes the shade/color (some less, some more) on every fossil I've done so far.
