Is this fossil bone?

Recommended Posts

Hello, I found this in a Ripley Formation locality in Georgia. It looks like bone and is very light but I’m not sure because it could just be a strange looking rock. A geologist in the 1900s who did a report for the Georgia geological survey wrote that there were undeterminable fossil bones, shark teeth of various Cretaceous sharks, and a mosasaur tooth here. I appreciate any input, thank you.

It's not bone, but it does beg consideration as another type of fossil. I'm just not sure which way to go with it.

Thank you all for the input. I’m not exactly sure if I can figure out what it is either, very strange whatever it is. I suppose sponge could be a possibility. I will just have to keep studying it.
