sixgill pete
While I do know this is an Otodus (Carcharocles) auriculatus tooth. My question is what possible tooth position. First glance I thought a lower posterior. But the large bulbous root has me wondering if it may be a symphyseal. I have one smaller ric tooth from a different location that @MarcoSr believed was a symphyseal and this tooth is very similar, though larger. Found in a private marl pit in Jones County N.C.. Eocene Castle Hayne Formation, Comfort Member. Any thoughts on this? 4 Bulldozers and dirt Bulldozers and dirt behind the trailer, my desert Them red clay piles are heaven on earth I get my rocks off, bulldozers and dirt Patterson Hood; Drive-By Truckers May 2016 May 2012 Aug 2013, May 2016, Apr 2020 Oct 2022
MarcoSr
Don Very nice tooth. The tooth has all the features of a symphyseal tooth. However, without the size, I can't say for sure. Don At that size, I'm 100% confident that the tooth is a symphyseal tooth. Marco Sr. 1 1 "Any day that you can fossil hunt is a great day."
