New Members MariH Posted July 21 New Members Share Posted July 21 My granddaughter is putting together her 4- H Geology box and we can't ID these two items. They were found in Western Kansas. The white lacy piece is about 1/4" wide and about 1" long. The other is about the size of a quarter. Any help you could give us would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
patelinho7
The second photo looks like a fenestrate bryozoan in between brachiopods. The first photo is also a brachiopod, I think. Perhaps someone else can provide a more precise brachiopod ID…
Mahnmut
Hi and welcome to the forum. I agree the lace is a fenestrate bryozoan. I guess @Tidgy's Dad may know something more about the brachiopods... minnbuckeye
The first picture looks like a productid brachiopod. If you are a little more precise with location, maybe someone can provide a genus or even species to your find. Usually knowing the county is good enough. You mention pseudoperma. My understanding is that this refers to a mushroom. There are no mushrooms in your pictures. Wish your granddaughter well and let us know how she does.
