New Members Eric R. Posted July 23 New Members Share Posted July 23 I recently found these in a box with other bone? carved objects (some appear Alaska/Inuit) from an estate of a gentleman who recently passed here in Eastern Washington and lived a little in Idaho but mostly SE Washington and was born in 1941. They look like some kind of bear teeth or parts thereof but I am not educated enough to even be able to say if they are fossil or the real tooth? I think they are fossil based on my knowledge of petrified wood samples but really looking for some expertise to help me ID them. Specifically, if they are bear - what type? Any and all input appreciated.

Frightmares
They do look like fossilized cave bear teeth that I've seen from Romania, but I'd wait to hear from some people that are more specialized in mammal fossils.
Newbie_1971
They appear to be bear to me ... upper canine on the right, and the next 2 lowers .. but they kind of look like modern to me. But then again I am just an average hunter, not a paleontologist.
JBkansas
They look like real, large, relatively modern mammal canines. Seems like these canines may be hard to definitively classify (even if you know the provenance): Edited July 23 by JBkansas
