Found in a large stream bed. It did not resemble any other rock/mineral in the nearby area. PXL_20240720_164836637.thumb.jpg.c29321f1015d69186634c2b80eab9c89.jpgPXL_20240720_164836637.thumb.jpg.c29321f1015d69186634c2b80eab9c89.jpgPXL_20240720_164836637.thumb.jpg.c29321f1015d69186634c2b80eab9c89.jpgPXL_20240720_164836637.thumb.jpg.c29321f1015d69186634c2b80eab9c89.jpgPXL_20240720_164845112.thumb.jpg.392f275643992c77998f5fcc100e9e3f.jpg

Doesn't appear to be petrified wood. It looks geologic.

I'm not an expert on rocks or your area, so take this with a grain of salt.  But it looks similar to pictures of calcium carbonate veins in travertine to me.

I don't know about the western side, but the eastern shore is Ediacaran, with ash layers in the beds.
