Hi, I was wondering if this mazon creek concretion i opened was actually anything or just a dud. I've seen some similar to this that we're actually something so not sure. Thanks in advance!

Last one from this cycle that I'm unable to identify. Coprolite? Some creature? Pretty confused on this one.

These photos are pretty blurry when blown up.
Can you try to take the photos outside, in daylight?

Maybe try to get different lengths away from the fossil to maximize exposure.

Let me do that real quick and post them all again in a reply.

Here's those in better light, hope it helps! After drying the small round one definitely doesn't look like anything, so not including that here.

I don't see anything identifiable. Just "blobs", which are common in MC concretions, and mineral staining. These may have been something organic at the outset but may have decomposed too much before fossilization. I have some beautifully formed, three-dimensional "blobs" in my collection that there's no chance of identifying, like this one:

Mark.

Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!
