Found in a crumbling red mudstone formation in northern RI. Need help ascertaining if these could be fossils.

Some kind of red mudstone formation with layers that was partially destroyed for a shopping center. PXL_20240725_232150356.thumb.jpg.c1ae82417850d464eadcc561208958d1.jpgPXL_20240725_232155203.thumb.jpg.fa9c2f73be840aed108a40017a24a83b.jpgPXL_20240725_232137562.thumb.jpg.29d5e5eb796f9dd6e67376c48ed3256b.jpgPXL_20240725_232124482.thumb.jpg.af18fd8435f1fffaae00bbbc71b54389.jpgScreenshot_20240725-194915.thumb.png.071d89f5e2fb9930ef0f83d4798693bd.png

First few pics look like plant fossils - indeterminate plant stems and maybe a Cordaites leaf.

Second item looks more like metamorphic rock with a mineral inclusion of some sort.

I agree. The first photo looks like assorted plant debris. The second looks to be geological in origin.

Mark.

Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!
