Deformed Pseudoscapanorhynchus? Or something else?

Found the tooth to the right today, possibly a deformed Pseudoscapanorhynchus the one to the left is how it’s supposed to look like.

Or is it another species? What do you guys think?

Kristianstad Basin Sweden, Cretaceous.

  • Fossildude19 changed the title to Deformed Pseudoscapanorhynchus? Or something else?

hard to say...

might be, root and shape looks like that it might be a pathologic one

The tooth on the left is an Archaeolamna, but the tooth on the right looks correct for a Pseudoscapanorhynchus. It is probably not pathological - such mesio-distal compression and a strong lingual protuberance are typical of this genus. I don't believe any species are described from the Campanian (youngest record of P. compressidens is Coniacian), and Einarsson, 2018 call the Kristianstad basin fossils P. sp.

Thanks for the id, I think google was showing me the wrong teeth it was showing me pictures of Archaeolamna when I searched for Pseudoscapanorhynchus. But I can’t find any reference pictures of Pseudoscapanorhynchus that looks like my tooth it’s so stubby compared to the others I see.
