Rita__
Also found these on East coast florida beaches. Are most of them bone fragments? Anything interesting or identifiable? I tried my best to get good quality pics that show detail. Found a lot of the long skinny pieces that might be ray spines? Thanks so much in advance Edited August 2 by Rita__
Fossildude19
Wow. That is a lot of fossils, for just one post. We usually do better when things are kept to less than 10 items per post. I see a lot of unidentifiable bone bits, some possible worn shark/fish teeth (17, 56-64), and some possible shell/pebble pieces. 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 IPFOTM -- MAY - 2024 _________________________________________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Rita__
@Fossildude19 Thank you for the feedback! Sorry about that. Perhaps I’m a bit too eager lol. I’ll take this post down and repost less at a time.

Just post the Teeth and potential spines, preferably with just a few items - close up. Rita__
Thanks again @Fossildude19 here is a close up picture of the possible teeth. #10 looked to me like a really worn down tiger shark tooth based on its shape. I’ll post the possible ray pieces after/separately - to keep it simpler. Appreciate your feedback! Will apply it moving forward 👍🏼
Fin Lover
A few look like sand tigers, a few don't look like teeth to me, and a few are too worn to ID, in my opinion. 2 1 Fin Lover
Shellseeker
So, it is good to see what they might have looked like in their "glory days" Sand Tiger (Carcharias taurus)... This one my largest and best quality. You might see some similarity on #1,2,3,6 Another less likely possibility for #1,2,3,6 is lower Teeth from (Snaggletooth) Hemipristis serra. It has a thicker blade and might be a possibility for #6 or #7 On # 9 , I have seen EXTREMELY worn Megalodon look similar to this. On your largest find #3, possibly an very worn Armadillo osteoderm (sometimes called scute). I was thinking about the center one below. Florida is inundated with fossils... If you have a fossil club in your area, join... otherwise keep looking at TFF posts for Florida Welcome 1 The White Queen ".... in her youth she could believe "six impossible things before breakfast"

Rita__
@Shellseeker thank you so much for the breakdown! I did think those were sand shark but the lack of root threw me off a bit. Thank you! oh wow! the thought of megalodon on #9 crossed my mind because of its shape.. but its size made me 2nd guess. Its about 1 inch in height. If it is megalodon - that’s pretty exciting stuff regardless of the condition Also - that’s very interesting about possible armadillo osteoderm. I do see the resemblance if it’s just really worn down. At first I thought maybe fossilized turtle shell? I thought the same for these other finds in this picture below as well - because I thought they had some slight similarities in their appearance? sorry if I’m very wrong in that assessment. Lol - Curious what you think 🤔

Lol - Curious what you think 🤔 Most of these are so worn that they are literally unidentifiable by novice or expert. However if you have studied overly worn turtle shell and/or bone for 15 or 20 years , you might be able to say "I have seen that shape more similar in Armadillo than in turtle shell... So, I could have responded that all look like extremely worn pieces of turtle shell, which they do... However , that does not translate to "They ARE turtle shell" In looking at this one... that edge seems similar to some edges on Armadillo and not so similar to Turtle shell.. So, learning more about Fossils, means you look at the Armadillo and see the similarity or you do not... Trying to use google to find some turtle shell that looks like you find might be difficult but would be worthwhile. 1 The White Queen ".... in her youth she could believe "six impossible things before breakfast"

I looked at this and thought there is some separation between the possible root and possible enamel. 1 inch is possibly the size of an extremely small fragment: These are small Megs, less than 1.5 inch for the smaller one. Suppose we broke off the right edge, some root and some blade, and threw it in salt water to let it erodein the waves for 2 mya... What would it look like? 1 The White Queen ".... in her youth she could believe "six impossible things before breakfast"
