Devonian piece to ID please

Recommended Posts

Hello, I found this recently in the Hungry Hollow formation. Devonian Ontario Canada.

 It is 1” (or 2.5cm).

I thought it was part of a sea star but now I’m thinking it may be part of a blastoid? I’ve searched so many images but can’t find an exact match in either choices. Maybe someone else recognizes it? Thank you.

What a neat piece (and sad you didn't invite me along as I am local, lol). Drawing a bit of a blank on this one, but let me tag @crinus who has spent a bit more time in those layers.

I wonder if this isn't a bottom plate from a cystoid or blastoid.  :zzzzscratchchin:

If a cystoid, I would say the piece is very scientifically significant.

I would be happy to donate it to a scientist :)

And just so you know, the persnickety lithologists have demoted Hungry Hollow to member status within the Widder Fm. For all we know, in a hot minute, it will revert back. :D
