What is this please?

I found this in items of my brother that I inherited. We grew up in Oklahoma so I'm thinking he found it here but he also would visit Florida, Texas and Wyoming, therefore it's a mystery as to location. 

The dark length of it is very smooth as is the light colored end in the dip but surrounding the dip on the end is slightly rough, not much but you can feel a difference. 

It would be much appreciated if anyone could tell me more. My brother collected alot of different fossils, bones, skulls and many other items and was awarded for his donations to museums.

This looks like an Equus proximal phalanx to me. Not an uncommon find in Pleistocene formations in Florida or here in Texas.

Horses kind of only use the one. And they do get pretty big.
