Need help identifying odd crystal

I found this in middle of Colorado springs. It is one of the strangest things I found on one of my walks around town I have absolutely no clue what it could be and it looks like there's something inside of it that's incased

 

4 1/2 cm by 3cm

Place a few drops of vinegar on it. If it fizzes, it is calcite. Rinse with water immediately.

If it does not fizz, it is quartz.

 

Could just be melted glass or slag, though.

It looks like a redeposited silicate like an agate.
