Moth.11
Good morning. While looking for fossils in the menilite flysch of the Carpathians, I found several specimens of this species of fish that I cannot identify. Is it possible to determine the species? Thanks. rocket
perhaps perhaps perhaps Hemithyrsites or Xenomesopelagia, but, without head and full tail, hard to decide Edited September 7 by rocket

oilshale
Don‘t think it is Hemithyrsites. More likely Xenomesopelagia (old name Idrissia), Clupea sardinites or Beksinskiella longimana. Hemithyrsites is a long and slender fish with a long fist dorsal fin and a much shorter second dorsal fin: The other 3 fish look quite similar Xenomesopelaga carpathica: Clupea sardinites: Beksinskiella longimana: Edited September 7 by oilshale 1 Be not ashamed of mistakes and thus make them crimes (Confucius, 551 BC - 479 BC).
