New Members paleonick Posted September 9 New Members Share Posted September 9 I found this odd looking fossil while looking for complete pennsylvanian crinoids. I've shown a handful of people and a paleontologist told me that it was the fossil of an extinct lineage of cnidarians and that it was quite rare ro find. You can see a central line with additional lines radiating out from the central line. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance. Missourian
It looks like a portion of a conularid, which has been interpreted as a cnidarian. https://dnr.mo.gov/document-search/conulariid-jellyfish-pub2916/pub2916 Example from the Pennsylvanian Winterset Limestone, Kansas City, Missouri: 3 Context is critical.
