Kohler Palaeontology
All the hunter valley material I have collected and most I have heard of is Permian in age. I am no expert on shells, so wait for other opinions. But I think it is a bivalve, maybe the genus Aviculopecten? anonaddict
agree with bivalve, not experienced enough to guess on genus. is the brown parts mud/dirt or is it part of the matrix? if it isn't part of the matrix then washing it off would be helpful for IDing
