Fin Lover
Welcome to the forum! A couple things are needed for IDs: location found (city or county and state if in the USA) and size. Using something like a camera, coin, hand, box of cigarettes, etc. for scale doesn't help since this is an international forum and those items can vary considerably. 1 Fin Lover
Fossildude19
Looks like a piece of chert or some other mineral. Not seeing anything fossil related with this item. 3 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 IPFOTM -- MAY - 2024 _________________________________________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Rockwood
I think there is an internal mold of a brachiopod here. It's quite faint though.

Yes but thats why i used a original early model GoPro rather than just a generic action cam that i also have at my disposal. Worst case anyone could simply check the cams dimensions. I had no measurement tools with me and posted it from out on the spot i found this. Its between the Dutch western beach and the dunes area where they are having a digging from a construction site. So it comes from a deeper layer. I was looking there because its a famous hotspot for Roman period items. I live right on the what its named by the Romans "the Limes route" . The empire most western outposts when for the majority of their reign and shorter lived British Isles campagne struggles. Caligula been in my town twice hehe btw i also found highly likely a piece of iron meteorite thats now getting verified. If so it would be amongst the not even 10 documented meteorite finds within the Netherlands xD
Rockwood
This is the possible mold that I mentioned. It looks like others may have been warn away. I could be wrong though.

Yes, if people recognize the item and want to spend the time to look up the dimensions. I had no idea it was a GoPro or what model. The more information you provide us, the more quickly and accurately we can help. 2 Fin Lover
val horn
A rough guess would have been more helpful 6 by 10 cm or whatever. Sometimes if the id comes down to a specific species true size becomes important but a ballpark estimate is good for first approximations

I envy your ultra-ionic eyes ! 9 hours ago, MarCoPilot said: Worst case anyone could simply check the cams dimensions. I respectfully disagree completely. As indicated we are on an international forum, non-American already make the effort to know that 1' = 2.56 cm, we adapt and that is why we accept without difficulty a given size in inches although the international scientific measurement is the centimeter. You ask us for help with your identification, and we always respond with pleasure, but you have to do your part of the work: give us as much information as possible on your item to identify, especially the size in cm or inches. It’s not for us to assess the size of your item from photos using any tool as a ruler. Ludwigia
Looks like a plain old rock with a couple of bumps on it to me. I'm not seeing anything obviously fossiliferous here. 1 Greetings from the Lake of Constance. Roger http://www.steinkern.de/

Glaciers provided the boulders, the seasonal ice in a dam-controlled lake split and spread layers out like a deck of cards.
