Where in California is there a place to go exploring for fossils? I live near Sacramento California.

You may need to look at the geologic maps and do some prospecting. Many of our sites are the result of a lot of research and time in the field. One reason we don't encourage members to post specific locations is that the forum is publicly searchable, so any mention of specific locations can result in others also seeing them and cleaning them out. 

 

Perhaps if a member is willing to share some sites, they can contact the OP over the private messaging system.
