Tomorrow the 151-145 million year old Archaeopteryx specimen at the Chicago Field Museum of Natural History (aka the Best Museum in Chicago) will return on public display. In celebration of this awesome event, I wanted to share some photos I was able to take of the real specimen out of its display case.

I was allowed to see and photograph the specimen (PA 830) last week by museum staff while doing awesome Internship work with microfossils.

The location it is currently kept at the museum is top secret and I will keep that info classified. You can all see it when it goes back on display tomorrow.

Gorgeous photos!

Was just up there last week visiting friends who are doing research at the Field. Missed it by just a few days. Oh well, yet another reason to go back. ;)

Cheers.
