I am not certain it is a tooth.  What does the flat root surface show.  The visible surface is broken up and the tip as well , is there actually enamel?  +3 inches would make for a very large tooth.

Michael,

Welcome to the Fossil Forum, We need more info..  Florida is a big place... North Florida ?  Bone Valley ? Tampa ? The reason to give location is to help figure what the AGE of the fossil.  I think it may be bone... I am not seeing enamel.  That straight line going up the center of the 1st photo not present on most teeth.  As Val Horn, requests Need a photo of the "Root" end

I am not certain of the exact location.  I live in North Florida.  I believe this was found by my father. No one has a good recollection of it.

I am of the same opinion as my predecessors, it is not a tooth because there is none of they characteristics.
