Please help me identify…..

Please help me identify this rock I found in Twain, CA.

I think it looks like snakes were wrapped around it.  Unfortunately, my husband tried washing it with acid and it broke it down more so than when I found it.

My guess would be differential weathering and mineral veins as opposed to anything fossiliferous.

No snake fossils here, just mineral veins.

Almost certainly, especially if it wasn't affected by the acid.
