Can anyone please ID this shark tooth?  It's from the west coast of Florida, Tampa Bay to Venice Beach area.  I went tooth hunting with my family on vacation there and this was the only one we can't figure out.  Thanks!

I agree that this is Carcharodon hastalis, which used to be called a mako but is now considered an extinct white shark that evolved into the great white Carcharodon carcharias.

Thanks Kohler Palaeontology, Al Dente, and shark57 for the great feedback and analysis on this tooth!  Your sleuthing skills are very helpful, and my 10 and 11 year old just asked me first thing this morning, "so what is it?!"  I'll deliver the informative and good news to them, lol.

Thanks everyone!
