New Members nathead Posted 3 hours ago New Members Share Posted 3 hours ago Hello, I have three interesting things from a recent family outing and would like help identifying these if possible. These were all found in a drainage in Hamilton county Tennessee. The drainage runs from a ridge that appears to have Silurian and Ordovician rock upstream and Mississippian where we searched. One fossil looks like a small piece of coral, the exposed part is about 13mm long. The second thing is almost conical, about 4cm long and less than 3cm wide at the base. It looks like it has branches at one time. The third thing looks like small stringy things, I was thinking bryozoans or something. They are various lengths on the plate. Any help identifying will be appreciated, my kids are enjoying discovering these!
Ludwigia
The first appears to be a branching bryozoan. Not sure about the 2nd, but the 3rd might be trace fossils. 1 1 Greetings from the Lake of Constance. Roger http://www.steinkern.de/
TqB
First is a bryozoan, probably fenestellid. I think the second one is a crinoid holdfast. Last one is trace fossils. The top one here looks a similar sort: https://www.uky.edu/KGS/fossils/fossil-of-the-month_2022-12_crinoid-holdfasts.php Edited 2 hours ago by TqB 1 Tarquin
