Hello to all! I am a newbie. Please help ID this. I think it's some kind of tooth, but not certain. Found on Holden Beach, North Carolina 10/10/2024. East coast of the USA.

Hello and welcome to the forum. What you have is mostly the root with a small portion of the edge of the tooth itself. It is pretty beat up, but you can see serrations faintly. It could be from a Meg or one of it's ancestors.

Thank you for your reply. I thought the same, but my old man said I was crazy. Lol We are VERY new at this. So this was a pretty cool find for my third day on the beach. It washed right up over my foot, so I reached down and grabbed it. Found 21 Sea Biscuits also! Thank you again for the info. Have a blessed day!

You should post pics of your Sea Biscuits, many members like them regardless if they are fossils or modern. And someone on the forum would be able to tell you which they are.

Based on the cerrations, probably a great white, or maybe a small meg. I can't tell if the tooth had a burlet or not. If it has a burlet, it's probably a small meg or chub. If it does not have a burlet, probably a great white

I’m sure I can see the remains of the bourlette. Also it’s too thick for a white from front to back….
