contained fracture pattern in flint

notes: something i havent seen before, it looks like the star pattern in belemnites (which its pbviously not) and its completely contained in the circle

I think this must be a solitary (horn) coral of some type. It's hard to say more without knowing the age.

never seen one of those in flint before. it seems slightly short, there is no sign of it on the other side of the rock. otherwise the pattern seems to fit, so could be the case

@anonaddict, thats a nice solitary coral, maybe Parasmilia sp. ?

I think that @TqB could help here further.

 

I still have to find one of them myself in flint preservation, they just look so nice !

I agree with @Brevicollis. It's definitely a solitary scleractinian in Upper Cretaceous flint and is a good fit for Parasmilia that has a spongy looking columella like that.
