Keasey formation Crinoid

Not sure if this is the right category, but I am very happy to finally have found my Keasey formation Crinoid after years of searching.

The keasey formation in Oregon preserves articulated crinoids from the early oligocene, the site was commercially mined in the 80s and most of the material was removed, in fact I have been told often that all of it was removed. Ever hopeful I have visited the site many times over the years, assuming that no one can get it all.

My last trip I stumbled upon four pieces of material loaded with crinoids! These were weathered out of the rock, and collected on the creekbed. The largest piece of material is over a foot long! I have cleaned up one of the smaller chunks to get a feel for the specimens and matrix so I don't ruin what may be my only chance to have a large specimen from this historic location. Can't wait to crack into the big boy, but this little guy sure satisfies

Thanks JP! Lots of persistence, helped by the fact that the site is absolutely beautiful, hardly needs fossils, but they never hurt

Thanks, I will. Maybe I will remember to take process shots, maybe. .

Wow, fantastic! It's not often you see Paleogene crinoids, much less articulated ones.

Congrats on the great find and thanks for sharing :)
