I found this fossil in Toronto, right on Lake Ontario. I took it to the Royal Ontario Museum recently, and they said that it is a trilobite from the Late/Upper Ordovician and is approximately 450 mya. However, they did not give me any taxonomic information, which, if possible, I would like to know. From head to tail, it is about 3 centimetres.IMG-8244.thumb.jpg.dc2108400b6e0664898fce92aeb062ee.jpg

Here is what I am seeing.

Red = Trilobite free cheek/or partial cephalon, pygidium, and thoracic (Pleural)  segment

Yellow = Orthocone Nautiloid.

Welcome to the Fossil Forum!

The trilobite pygidium is a calymenid; in the Toronto area the only calymenid genus that occurs in the upper Ordovician is Flexicalymene.  The free cheek also looks like this genus to me.

I see! Thank you to everyone who helped me identify the different parts of the trilobite and nautiloid and who identified the genus of the trilobite. I really appreciate it!
