Rockwood
Sorry, I can't explain just how the shape came about, but it's not a crystal skull.
New Members Tomas1 Posted 2 hours ago Author New Members Share Posted 2 hours ago Not saying it's crystal skull but animal bones can over time change to mineral like stone?

Fossildude19
Bones can be replaced by minerals, but it usually still looks like a bone or skull. In this instance, all I see is a crystal formation of some sort, that vaguely looks a bit like a cartoon dino head, ... if I squint and look at it sideways. 2 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 IPFOTM -- MAY - 2024 _________________________________________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Fin Lover
Sorry, I agree - not seeing any bone or a skull. Fin Lover
Rockwood
One can imagine a would-be skull fossil ending up looking this way. The problem is that without the unique features seen in the individual bones there would be virtually no way to prove it. An almost unlimited number of other explanations would be equally valid. newb
"Fossil mummies" do exist, but they're rare and you would still expect to see I think clear skin marks, muscle fibers, etc depending on the fossilization process.
